Violence!

Violence is a part of
our everyday life, you see.
I ask myself, "why do
these things affect me?"
but I guess its just a part of reality.

But then again, I see
drug dealers, gang bangers,
perverts and even more...
when we open the door.
You know we can't even
walk to the store?
Its all because of violence.

We're killing each other
each and every day
but we all fail to
realize that people love to play.
We think its just
a joke, but all I can do is hope.

Instead of worrying
about a shopping spree...
I should stand up and say,
"Stay drug free!"

I wonder what this world is coming to....

Violence is not the key to success.
All I can do is wish that
we all do our best.

Violence... people,
Its not good for me nor you, so
lets think of
a solution we all
can do to make
this world seem
NEW!!

Violence

Violence STOP IT!
We're killing our future
And making it silent
If we don't stop the violence
we'll destroy everything
our fore fathers founded.
We must stand together as one
and don't let the world take us under
stopping the violence
will make us strong
so people before us
can see what we've become.
So please STOP THE VIOLENCE!!

-Teneisha Howell

Violence

What is violence?
Why is it happening to me?
It seems to happen to mostPeople in the street
Whether it’s an accident or
If it’s meant to happen
It’s still violence.
Violence happens to the young
And the old, to the rich
And the poor.
You can make a change if
You can stay away from violence
That’s when everything will change.

-Joshua Pittman

A Bullet With No Name

There are little children playing
in the park laughing and joking
as their parents watch.
So therefore I sit and watch
them play remembering
the day a boy’s life was devastating.
Bullets where flying everywhere,
children crying out of fear,
parents running looking everywhere,
but as I look towards the ground
I can see this boy laying down for his life
has been taken away with a bullet that carries no name.

Jimmy's Shortcut

Let me start this story off by asking, why is there violence? On May 17, 2023 in the city of Little Rock, there was a kid named Jimmy who everyone liked. He had no enemies at all. When Jimmy left school one day he took a shortcut to the house. Jimmy was wearing a brand new green hat his dad just bought him. As he was walking he noticed a group of boys. One of the boys saw that hat and complimented .n He asked Jimmy if he could buy the hat. Jimmy slightly hesitated and said no. The boys asked Jimmy again for the hat and he said no with fear. Jimmy tried to walk away and the boys surrounded him and started pushing him around. Then, one of the boys took Jimmy's hat. Jimmy tried to get it back. The boys started to toss the hat to each other. Jimmy was getting irritated with the boys and tried forcefully to get his hat back, yelling, "My dad just gave me that!" Jimmy was enraged, so he pushed one of the boys. They stopped and looked at Jimmy and one of the boys decided to start hitting Jimmy. Then all of the boys brutally beat Jimmy. Jimmy was on the ground bleeding rapidly from his face. Jimmy's parents were worried about why he wasn't home yet, so his parents went looking for him. As his parents were looking for him, a lady walked by and saw Jimmy on the ground. She called an ambulance for Jimmy. Jimmy was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Later on, Jimmy's parents were notified that he was in the hospital. They rushed down there speeding through the streets. About three months later, Jimmy recovered and from then on his life was different. Jimmy started hanging out with dangerous people. He started to look for the boys who brutally beat him to get retaliation. Jimmy took that same shortcut every day. One day, he saw the green hat his dad gave him on one of the boys' heads. Jimmy walked up to the boys and they didn't recognize him. Jimmy asked politely to have his hat back and they said, "who are you?" Jimmy said, "I'm the boy you beat three months ago for that hat." Jimmy asked again for his hat and the boys said no. Jimmy pulled out a gun and shot one of the boys. The other boys ran with extreme caution and fear of death. Jimmy kept shooting at the boys. Jimmy killed 3 of the boys, paralyzed one of them, and the last boy was shot and had to get his leg cut off. After realizing what he had done, Jimmy called the police on himself and sat at the crime scene. Jimmy was charged with murder and was sentenced to life in prison. After 20 weeks in prison, Jimmy hung himself. Jimmy died on February 21, 2024.

The World I Live In

Violence is harmful to children in this world. People don't think twice about what they are doing. People in this world don't understand that they are hurting the environment in school and the future of those children. To many people choose to hurt others and often themselves. It is amazing how the violent people end up choosing to kill themselves because they realize what have been doing for years and it hurts them to notice that. Some people have reasons why they kill, emotional reasons, family difficulties, or abuse. I choose to expect the unexpected from people that are violent. Unfortunately, I make sure that I am always prepared for anything. That is the world I live in.

My thoughts

Violence? Violence plays a very important role in my life. There are three ways I would like to stop violence. Everyday from 3:15 to 7:00 p.m. there should be an after school program to stop violence. Everyday students must be encouraged not to be violent. Violence is ruining young people's lives. Violence is making people kill themselves and kill others. Violence makes act, doing things they otherwise wouldn't. Violence needs to go, we need to say no to violence.

-Zakyria Tobar

A few questions...

Why is violence so difficult?
Why is violence even a word?
Should it be an action or a verb?
Violence is the meanest word you can ever say.
Violence is a word everybody reacts to.
Violence should stop, violence should go.
Stop the violence and start the learning.

-Iveana Miller

Cruel

Violence is everywhere,
people scratching and pulling hair,
at the school, in the afternoon.
Why is violence so cruel?

Violence

Violence...
...is what we hear
what we see
and what we feel.

I wake up almost everyday
feeling like the media
is in my neighborhood.
I scream for help!

But I feel like I'm being
ignored by thousands of people
who could possibly help me.

Why does it bother me?
It's not. It's just bothering ME.
It's bothering the world.
How can I help?

Yes, but how is the question.

Fade Away

The world lives violence
but we need to take it away.
We think we have power
but what do we do with it--violence.
You don't have the power to bring a loved one back.

We need to live in peace
to live longer, without violence.
That's why more and more fade away
because of the way we live.
We need to make a change.

A change that creates
new worlds and people.
We need to change ourselves.
So let's make a change.
What about now....?

Cease

Everyday on the news someone gets hurt,
every week another person get buried in the dirt.

I saw one little girl with a black eye.
I wonder if the next time she gets hurt--will she die?

Its so sad that I hear all these things on the news,
seeing so many family members singing the blues.

I hope to God that one day it will stop--
an end to the guns that go 'pop!'

I pray that one day we will live in peace.
and all of the violence in the world will one day cease.

-Bria'una Mitchell

It can be changed

Violence happens everyday
and I wonder what we can do
to make these people pay.

Sometimes violence makes me want to
pull my hair
and I realize these
things aren't fair.

When I think about violence
I think about abuse,
weapons, and drugs

I just know I can no longer
sit silence.

When I see these things,
it makes me want to cry.
All my mother can say is,
"Oh my..."

Violence is turning,
this world up-side
down.

It makes everyone
hate and frown.

It's not funny,
I ask "Where is the clown?"

Violence.... "YES!"
It happens everyday
but when worse comes
to worse.

I know
IT CAN BE CHANGED!!

-Bria Woodson

Why?

Tell me, "Why?" We all have an essence of intelligence,
but choose to confine it with the stench of stupidity and ignorant violence.

Why ignore the fact that goals can be achieved and foundations can be established.

Why not think before you act and realize what can be accomplished,
without the violence.
